In light of the recent events in the US, where some of the white policemen have brutally killed black men and women due to ethnicity or racism, the Augustine Renewal Fellowship (ARF) denounces racism*. We call for an immediate end to racism, hate crimes and violent attacks fuelled by ethnicity or racism. We believe that all people (whether Black, White, Coloured [mixed race], Indian etc.) are all created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26).

  • All races are equal before God.
  • No race is superior to the other.
  • Human dignity must be respected and preserved.
  • We have no right to look down on or kill others because they are of a different race than ours.

We as the ARF invite all South Africans to join us in denouncing racism in our society. Join the cause against racism, and be a part of the solution. It’s important for all of us to recognise the reality of racism in our society and communities – we must intervene (i.e. if you see something, say something), and fight against racism rhetoric and violence at every level. As South Africans, let’s fight against racism, let us be inspired by Nelson Mandela who he said “our march to freedom is irreversible. We must not allow fear to stand in our way.”

Let us pray and strive to build together a new community of love and respect for each individual as a person created uniquely by God in his image with all the worth and intrinsic rights that confers.
